Lakeside concerts, Taste of Downtown, and Barbie on the Queen Mary

The city recently announced that it has launched a new summer activities calendar that you can find here with more than 1,300 activities on the schedule and more on the way.

Already in full swing, the city’s “Summer of Endless Fun” calendar offers hundreds of repeating events for kids like toddler story times at different local libraries, mobile recess programs at city parks for kids between 5 and 14, arts and crafts workshops, and more.

Then there’s fun for the whole family with movie nights at the Queen Mary, starting on Wednesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. with a showing of last summer’s blockbuster hit Barbie. Then Little Giants will play on July 17, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on August 21, and Wonka on September 18.

Movies at the Queen Mary are free with an RSVP, and parking is only $10 with validation. You can also purchase a Date Night Package for $99 that gets you a reserved couch seat with a Queen Mary blanket, snacks, drink service, and a bottle of champagne.

If you’re looking for a different date night idea, the 15th anniversary of Taste of Downtown returns on June 12 and 13, hosted by the DLBA. Admission is free but ticket packages will be available to purchase so you can try all the different options from participating Downtown restaurants.

For more food fun, get ready for three chances at the Belmont Shore Business Association’s Stroll and Savor on 2nd Street. First on Wednesday, June 19 and Thursday, June 20, shops and restaurants will set up tables along the popular strip offering samples of food and drink and special offers.

They’ll host two more double nights of fun, on Wednesdays and Thursdays on July 17 and 18, and August 21 and 22.

Music fans can enjoy a lakeside concert at El Dorado Nature Center from The Salty Suites at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 13. A total of six concerts will be hosted every other Thursday night through the summer, and you can see the full lineup here.

And from June 14 to Labor Day on September 2, the Alamitos Beach and Bayshore Aquatic Playgrounds will be open to the public daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Under the supervision of Long Beach Lifeguards you can climb, jump, slide, and swim all over and around two inflatable water parks, as long as you can swim out to them. Kids under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
