UPDATE: 7 injured, 4 critically outside North Long Beach nightclub in suspected gang shooting

Long Beach police are investigating a suspected gang-related shooting in North Long Beach that left seven people injured, including four in critical condition, according to the authorities.

Officers responded to a shopping center on South Street just west of Paramount Boulevard at 11:15 p.m. following reports of a shooting near Prendido de Noche nightclub, according Long Beach Police Department spokesperson Allison Gallagher.

After their preliminary investigation, homicide and gang detectives believe at least two men opened fire on a group, wounding seven men, the department said in a statement Sunday morning.

The investigation is ongoing but detectives believe the shooting was gang-related, according to LBPD.

Congresswoman Nanette Barragán, whose district includes parts of Long Beach, called the shooting “horrifying” in a post on X.

“My thoughts are with those impacted by this senseless gun violence,” Barragán wrote. “But we need action.”

Some of the victims transported themselves to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the more seriously injured, who remain in critical but stable condition, LBPD said Sunday.

Detectives are in the process of interviewing witnesses, collective evidence and reviewing security camera footage, according to LBPD.

The department said it has increased patrols in the area and has dispatched its Neighborhood Safety Bike Team to “engage with community members as well as identify additional witnesses.”
