Man arrested in connection to fatal shooting of a Long Beach mother, police say
Authorities say Timothy Campbell shot and killed his girlfriend Myriam Zaragoza during a domestic dispute on June 19.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a Long Beach mother of two in the Wrigley neighborhood last week.
Police say 35-year-old Timothy Campbell shot and killed 43-year-old Myriam Zaragoza in what they believe was a domestic dispute on June 19. It’s not clear what they were fighting about, but police said Campbell and Zaragoza were dating.
Authorities responded to the 2300 block of Locust Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. and found Zaragoza in cardiac arrest after being shot multiple times, according to police. She died at the scene.

Campbell, police said, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody Monday on suspicion of murder. His bail was set at $2 million. The case against him will be presented to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office, police said.
Just days before his arrest, Campbell posted a video on his TikTok account, which boasts more than 27,000 followers, asking if anyone knew a lawyer who could help him because he was being accused of “something very, very serious.”
“I honestly don’t know what to do here,” he says in the video. “I didn’t do this. I can’t even mourn, I can’t even grieve because of this.”
Zaragoza’s family, meanwhile, continues to mourn her death.
They described the 43-year-old as a loving mother of two children and the life of the party.
“Myriam was more than just a mother, she was my best friend,” her daughter Jasmin wrote in a GoFundMe post last week. “Her infectious laugh could be heard from a mile away, bringing smiles and warmth to everyone she met.”
Jasmin started a fundraiser to help with her mother’s funeral expenses. As of Tuesday morning, it has raised $5,635 out of its $10,000 goal.
