It’s NIMBYism at its finest. I don’t think most people realize the homeless population in Long Beach are people from Long Beach who got priced out. Until we build, it will only get worse. Meanwhile residents of Cal Heights are clutching their pearls thinking about low income units being built in their neighborhood.
It makes sense to build density near mass transit. I would push for bus only lanes, wider sidewalks, and removal of street parking, and road improvements on these streets. More frequent bus service for residents to reduce car dependence. We can reduce the danger of these roads and better service people that live on them.
